CAKE BAKE is back and will be held right after school TODAY. We will still be selling tickets at the door! For $10 you’ll get 2 HUGE slices of homemade cake and almost all the milk you can drink. Raffle tickets ($1 each to win a basket of local business goodies) and student designed T-Shirts will also be sold to raise money to help aging roots musicians. This event has sold out for 14 straight years - so don’t delay.

SOOTS was founded in 2006. Our Sustaining Roots (SOOTS) Music Community Project  was founded to raise awareness and funds for aging NC Piedmont blues musicians through the Music Maker Relief Foundation. After establishing the Fat Tuesday Food and Music Festival and the May Day Cake Bake, SOOTS was able to finance the first of eight annual benefit concerts in downtown Raleigh that featured over a dozen Music Maker artists and friends. In the mix SOOTS also began to partner with UNC's Center for the Study of American South in order for students to balance their social entrepreneurship with more academic, folklore-inspired studies. SOOTS always looks to learn more about the traditions we've received and to which we seek to give back with as much grace and generosity.
